The Power of a Personal Detail

The Power of a Personal Detail

How a simple swap can make all the difference

I have always loved Clarks Wallabees. Originally inspired by a German moccasin-style shoe called the Grasshopper (which is an adorable name) they are totally iconic with their suede upper and crepe sole.

When I saw this version in the J. Crew Catalog, I really fell in love. I purchased them and then searched for bright pink laces as my signature detail. I also saved this picture and used it to explain what I want Sunshine Canyon to be all about. Is that a business plan? Nope, but it’s a feeling. And the feeling is that even with something as classic as a Wallabee, there’s room to make it your own

That’s the thing about personal details. They don’t have to be big, loud, or obvious. A contrasting stitch on a jacket, a monogram in a place only you know, the way a certain sweater feels because it belonged to someone you love. Tiny, happy details that turn the ordinary into the original.

It’s not about the thing itself—it’s about the detail that you love.
